Is FAQ Structured Data Dominating Google Search?

What is a FAQ page?

The Frequently Asked Questions section, commonly known as FAQ page is must for every business.  In this page we address common concerns of our customers and answer any question that might pop up in their mind while reading our services.

It is different from the About Us page, in which we tell the story behind our brand and our primary objectives.

The FAQ page requires you to get behind the eyeballs of your users and answer their every expected query in advance. This enhances the credibility of the platform and develops trust in customers for the brand.

FAQpage structure & its impact on Rankings

Since FAQ page is vital for user’s convenience and credibility of the platform, Google is also giving significant importance to it. Google announced the FAQ Structured Data feature in May 2019.

This is how Google explained it:

“By using FAQPage structured data, you can make your content eligible to display these questions and answers to display directly on Google Search and the Assistant…”

From the above words, it is clear that Google will give priority to sites with FAQ structured Data in rankings.

After the announcement, a few people also posted screenshots of search results, where top sites had FAQ Structured Data feature, that confirms its importance further.

Is there a problem with Google’s FAQpage

The problem with FAQPage Structured Data, according to some people is that it can be placed on any kind of page. Most web pages don’t even bother to display an FAQ on their web pages.

But now, for the sake of rankings, we might have to slap a FAQpage on every page, even if it annoys the user. Apparently, Google wants to give instant solutions to its users, as FAQs gives instant answers, especially in “How-to” blogs.
