How To Stop Global Warming
The planet is warming from North Pole to South Pole and the rate of natural disasters is also increasing. Since 1906, our earth’s average surface temperature has increased by more than 2.6 degrees. Thereby, we are experiencing natural disasters – in the form of floods, storms, extreme weather- more frequently than ever before. The continuously increasing temperature is melting glaciers, increasing sea levels and setting the animals on move.
Whom To Blame For It?
If there is anyone to blame for global warming, then it’s us, humans – residents of earth. The damage to Ozone Layer is incurred by our greedy intentions – just to earn a few bucks.
We slaughter trees, then blame mother nature for natural disasters.
We burn coal and then blame each other for the poor environment and lack of fresh air to breath
What Causes Global Warming?
Global warming is a result of the blending of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases collect in the atmosphere and solar radiations that have bounced off the earth’s surface. This radiation would normally escape into space – but these pollutants trap the heat and keep it on earth for years to even centuries!
What Is A Greenhouse Gas?
CO2 is the greenhouse gas produced by human activities and more than 60% of global warming today is due to this gas. Before industrialization, the concentration of this gas in the air was 40% lower than it is today. Some other gases that greatly affect our atmosphere and disrupt climate patterns are:
- carbon dioxide (CO2)
- methane
- nitrous oxide
- fluorinated gases
How Can We Stop Global Warming?
Since we human alone are responsible for polluting and warming our planet, it can only be saved if we change our lifestyles and respect the nature around us. We have already caused an irreversible damaged to earth, and now it is the time to amend it. Or else, it might be too late!
1.Eat Less & Eat Well
The food we eat has a profound effect on the environment.
Here are four simple ways to make your diet climate-friendly.
- Eat more meat-free meals
- Buy organic and local whenever possible
- Don’t waste food
- Grow your own
2.Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Buy only eco-friendly products – better buy less and recycle your used products, instead. It is an effective way to reduce waste and save the planet Earth!
Reuse bottles, plastic containers, and other items you buy at the grocery store. Try to use disposable products into some other form and just don’t throw them away.
3. Go Solar
Go solar and save earth! It is possible and easy to install solar panel now – thanks to cheap solar panels available. You can save thousands of pounds of CO2 from going into the air by going solar.
4. Avoid Products With Lot of Packaging
Don’t buy products that come with excessive packing. In the end, you throw all the packing stuff in bin and where does it go then? Of course, this waste pollutes our environment and boosts global warming.
5.Plant Trees
Plant as many trees as you can. By planting more trees, you can improve the environment and increase the quality of fresh air available to breathe. Plants can play a vital role in reducing carbon dioxide from our atmosphere and prevent any further damage occurring to Ozon Layer.
6. Turn off Electronic Devices
Avoid excessive use of electricity- turn off your electronic devices when you move out for a couple of days or more.
By using less electronic appliances, you also increase the lifetime of your gadget.
7.Tune Your Car Regularly
Tune your car regularly to make it function smoothly. It will also help in reducing the amount of carbon dioxide it emits.
8.Replace Filters on Air Conditioner and Furnace
Replace filters on air conditioners regularly. Cleaning a dirty air filter can save a significant amount of carbon dioxide a year.
9. Buy Energy-Efficient Appliances
Always buy energy sufficient appliances. This will not only save your hard-earned cash but also reduce your carbon footprint. Before buying any appliance, do proper research regarding its energy consumption.
10.Reduce Waste
Stop burying and burning waste immediately. Burnt waste releases toxic gases in the atmosphere which result in global warming. Start reusing and recycling old items and save the earth!
