Facebook and TikTok to compete with each other

The world today is more interested in social entertainment than social media today. And in between the chaos of competition, several platforms are competing for ” who gets the more users”.

“We’re trying to first see if we can get it to work in countries where TikTok is not already big before we go and compete with TikTok in countries where they are big,” said Zuckerberg.

It’s almost like the Explore Tab that we have on Instagram,” said Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in leaked audio, describing TikTok during an all-hands meeting.

As compared to Facebook, TikTok is a totally different platform. TikTok represents a different form of social entertainment that’s vastly different from the lifelogging of Instagram.

TikTok content is premeditated, storyboarded and different than the haphazard Stories we find on Insta.

The recent comments from Zuckerberg have provoked an unspoken competition between the two giants.

When it comes to statistics, Facebook’s copycat Lasso has been installed just 425,000 times since its launch in November, while TikTok has 640 million installs in the same period – that too outside of China. TikTok has 1.4 billion total installs beyond China to date.

People want Entertainment

The thing is, people today are preferring entertainment over chatting or posting selfies on social media. The faddish trend of posting selfies on FB, updating Check-in seems to get over now. Instead, people are moving towards social entertainment. However, these two -Facebook and TikTok-  different things, and both platforms have a mammoth userbase. Some social people may prefer Facebook over TikTok or some may prefer both. It entirely depends on one’s flavor!
